Dorm Room Planning

I know it is a little early, but I have been slowly planning my dorm room since sophomore year of high school when the idea first occurred to me. My friend had just gotten into her top choice and I swear all that popped up on her pinterest was dorm room stuff-and that started my obsession. Not that I dreamed about living in a shoe box room but more about the effort and how I was stunned on the amazing job people did turning their cinder block cell into a home.

Now that I have an idea of where I will be going in the fall,  the idea of planning a room and finding a roommate is getting closer and more exciting. Lately my friends and I have found ourselves on pinterest looking at dorm pictures and getting an idea of what we want our rooms to look like next year.

The first thing that comes in mind for me is color scheme. I love simplicity.

So far (this is totally subject to change) I am leaning towards the neutral color like navy, grey and white with accents of gold or yellow.

Below are pictures that I have found and will be using as inspiration when I buy items for my dorm room.
This is my favorite dorm so far. I love how the pillows add the color. My sister has an old west elm duvet cover that I have been thinking about using. When I saw this dorm I nearly screamed. It was just what I had been envisioning. And I could easily add my blue tie-dye pillow that I have on my bed at home.

Next this cart is another piece that I am in love with. This reminds me of the ikea cart that I have already purchased for my room. My mom grabbed that cart because she knew it would be useful and she was afraid that it would become unavailable by August. I plan on styling the cart similar to the one above. On one shelf I figure I can but some of my textbooks and on the top I will put a lamp, as I plan  on also using this as a nightstand.
My friend posted this on pinterest and I thought it was a great idea! For each class have a separate bin for each of the materials. A great way to keep everything organized. Then I was on pinterest this morning and found this...
I think this is a more polished version.
I had been planning on framing prints on then hanging them on the walls next to my bed. Then... I found out that the school I am considering the most doesn't allow command hooks!!! Like what? My mom and I are still so puzzled! Like why, they are pretty much made for college students! Anyways I saw this and well I want something on my walls and I think this still gives the polished look but without any frames.
This is also a really nice way of doing it.

Lastly-Canvas Art. In these two photos above I love the idea of incorporating home. In the first photo the think the the monogram with quotes is the perfect touch. In the the second photo I will be making my own version of this.Shout out to people being so creative and artistic. ( I will need to find a stencil!)

Well I hope you all found some inspiration my the stuff that I have found. I will be keeping y'all updating as I am so exciting so be heading off to school in the fall!

Second Semester!

The time has come- 108 days until graduation! (That includes weekends)

I swore that I would never be one of the seniors that slacked off once second semester hit - maybe it has been all the snows days - but I feel like I have barely been at school. I actually haven't had a full week of school since before winter break!(thats been all the snow days)

So it the start of another week and I woke up to the lovely suprise of no school once again. My county is know for cancelling school quite easily and I have enjoying it all because I know next year (espically if I'm up north) I won't be having any snow days. The snow doesn't really bother me. However I'm not saying I don't enjoy the sun.

I have about two and half months until AP testing. AP testing starts the end of the school year. Typically after AP testing we then go on to take the state test and the finals and in a blink of an eye its summer. This comes even faster for seniors. After AP testing, we go straight into final (which I might only have one during the time period since most AP classes give the final before the AP test) and then on June 1st seniors have the option to do a community service project for the 2 weeks leading up to graduation.

So summary- Two and half more months! That all I have left.

I know for some people high school ending is this bitter sweet moment but for me I am excited for the future. I am excited to move to a new area. To meet new people and to try new things. I know that come mid-August when my group of friends start to head out I will shed some tears and I will miss them. But graduation please come faster!

I hope everyone has been enjoying 2015 and I know you all will be doing amazing things this year!
